| Sumario: | [EN] in this paper we will study the Catalan translation of Ubu roi (Alfred Jarry) by Joan Oliver and we will compare it with the first Spanish translation by José Corrales Egea, following the perspective of the Polysystemic theory and the school of Manipulation. Through the study of word-plays and the editorial paratexts of both plays, we will establish relations between the translations and the hegemonic norm in Catalonia under the Franco regime and the immediate democratic transition. We will discover that, through the strategy of adaptation, the drama translation functions, in this context, not only as a source of renewing the local drama production but also as a literary legitimacy of the Catalan language |
