Sumario:This dissertation constitutes a quest for an approach to describing language use capable of integrating the findings of disciplines such as linguistics, anthropology, sociology and philosophy within a pedagogical framework based on a modular concept of communicative competence which involves four areas of knowledge and skills: linguistic, sociolinguistic, discourse and strategic.
