| Sumario: | “Campiña” playa-lakes, originated in relation to clay-evaporite materials of Depression of the Guadalquivir, are characterized by their temporary hydroperiod and saline waters. Among these, it highlights the lacustrine complex of La Lantejuela, consisting of nine major playa-lakes and other smaller wetlands. Next to several playa-lakes, eight clay dunes with lunette morphology, heights of 5-19 meters and crests up to 4.6 km in length, are described. The origin of clay dunes is related to wetlands in arid regions, where clay-salt aggregates formed during dry season may be affected by aeolian erosion. Lunettes of La Lantejuela are located on the northern shore of playa-lakes, which is compatible with the current regime of winds, with stronger winds in summer from the southeast. Finally, it is concluded the complex origin of the playa-lakes of La Lantejuela, related to tectonic processes and, as is revealed in this study, to wind deflation processes |
