| Sumario: | Breakthroughs in fully autonomous vehicle development are reaching and all-time high. The question is not if, but when this technology is will make it on the market. And the likely answer is soon. Although AVs are just a few years from being launched, many questions remain unanswered. One thing is clear though. Distinct adoption patterns will shape the trajectory of the technology. Most research in this field emphasises the point that an AV future will be shared, shifting to an on-demand mobility future. Nonetheless, polling data shows that many people don?t want to give up their private vehicle for a shared one. This paper will illuminate the often-overlooked side of private AV adoption. Thereby, different private autonomous vehicle deployment scenarios will be simulated. The data will then be analysed to determine the impacts of a private AV adoption on emissions and traffic flow. Simultaneously, research gaps in that area will be filled for a European region. |
