| Sumario: | The many 'isms' that popped up in the 20th century are the different ways of responding to the identity crisis after the industrial revolution and WWI. First, this analysis double checks to what extent Lewis' short story collection The Wild Body abides by the artistic postulates promulgated in the Vorticist manifesto . Secondly, the analysis will result in the proposal of a 'vortex manoeuvre' to account for the different literary devices and narrational strategies that conform vorticist literature. Finally, the similarities between Kerr-Orr and the French flâneur will challenge the canonical twentieth-century 'Make It New' avant-gardist motto. |
