Descripción
Sumario:This work proposes a novel analysis of the inquisitorial persecutions suffered by Portuguese converts in the Viceroyalty of New Spain in the mid-seventeenth century and which an extensive bibliography has been calling the Jewish «Great Complicity» in America. Below the inquisitorial repression against the Judaizers in Mexico that characterized the manifestation of this conflict, this work examines the struggle unleashed between the Basque nation and the Portuguese nation in Mexico, at an extremely critical juncture such as the one in the middle of that century.
