| Resumo: | [EN] Historiography is slowly broadening our knowledge of Miguel de Giginta, the canon from Elna. In this article, the autor highlights three different moments in Giginta's life. In the first part of his life, until 1580, Giginta was a very active arbitrist. During the second part of his life, from 1580 to 1584, Giginta could see how his proposals turned out to be a reality. It was the moment for the construction of the Hospital of Mercy in Toledo and the General Hospital in Madrid. Furthermore, some of his Memorials were published. But the third part of his life, between 1584 and 1588, was a difficult one. Besides facing many different personal problems, Giginta had to see how the General Hospital of Madrid was closed and finally moved to Atocha, because it difficulted the building work of the Duke of Lerma's orchard in Prado de San Jerónimo |
