Finally, in 1865 the setting up of the magazine Fígaro completed the organizing tasks of the Democratic alicantinos with the aim of spreading their ideology and their party programme.El partido Demócrata, a partir del cual surgiría en 1868 el Partido Republicano, comenzó a configurarse en Alicante a fines del Bienio Progresista, cuando un sector de progresismo evoluciona rápidamente hacia las posiciones demócratas. Los años 1864 y 1865 enmarcan el período de máxima organización del naciente partido con la constitución de círculos, clubs y los primeros comités en los distintos niveles de actividad: local, partido judicial y provincial.
