| Summary: | Efforts to address mobility challenges, including behavior changes, are recognized. Nudges are increasingly used to promote sustainability, but empirical studies on their effectiveness, especially in integrated packages, are lacking. This thesis presents a case study from the SCALE-UP project in Turku, Finland, focusing on nudging interventions. A review identifies promising interventions, and a force-field analysis determines targets: increased cycling and car-sharing. A tailored nudging package integrating education, incentives, and social references is developed and tested. Evaluation combines quantitative trip data and surveys with qualitative feedback. Results show educative nudges help maintain winter cycling but have limited impact on car-sharing. Certain channels, like info screens and postcards, are more effective. The thesis offers recommendations for policymakers and a toolkit for future applications. |
