Resumo:The new settlement of Butarque (Leganés) was the architect Ignacio Haan’s first project in Spain after a seven-year study residence in Italy defrayed by the Real Academia de San Fernando. The settlement is a set of buildings clustered round an old hermitage. The project in the end came to naught as the Consejo de Castilla (Council of Castile) considered it to flout the interests of the Marqués de Leganés and the residents of this town. Its features are described in a file kept in the Consejos section of the Archivo Histórico Nacional (National History Archive)
