Descrição
Resumo:Social networks allow us to interact with people, create content, share it and, ultimately, spread it. This social universe continues to be another means of communication through which the language is transmitted. If we consider the reference corpus, whose purpose is to obtain global features of the language at a certain moment in its history, social networks represent a novel source of information. This chapter will present through some formal neologisms —which constitute clear evidence of lexical creativity and the productivity of morphological processes (tiktoker, pyme, presintomático, and others)—, the usefulness of social networks as tools for linguistic research and will analyse the problems and limitations of using the social network Twitter as a corpus for linguistic research.
