Sumario:The relationship between tourism and the environment is crucial for sustainable tourism as it addresses concerns about the natural and social environment. Despite the extensive discussions and activities surrounding tourism sustainability, challenges persist in its implementation. Evaluating the process highlights the crucial role of destination management effectiveness. As a developmental aspect of tourism management, destination management involves all stakeholders to ensure comprehensive participation and collaboration. The study aims to comprehensively review existing research on sustainable tourism and destination management to identify key trends and gaps in the literature. The study utilized the VOSviewer application to analyze graphs related to keywords, abstracts, citations, references, bibliographies, and authors, enhancing understanding of research on sustainable tourism and destination management. The study comprehensively examined the progress, focus, and prevalent themes in research related to destination management, sustainable tourism, and the environment. The study also offered recommendations regarding specific critical challenges and opportunities identified in the research. Data from the analysis reveals a significant increase in interest in sustainable tourism and destination management in recent years. The findings emphasize the necessity for increased cooperation among stakeholders to tackle the difficulties and possibilities of attaining sustainable development in tourism locations. The study also found no studies on the interaction of artificial intelligence and modern tourism technologies with sustainable tourism and destination management.
