Descripción
Sumario:The R/V CIM-UVIGO, a medium-sized plug-in hybrid oceanograph- ic research vessel, represents a pioneering approach to sustain- able marine research. Built by RODMAN shipyard and delivered to the University of Vigo in 2023, it combines a diesel engine with renewable energy systems (solar panels and wind turbines) to re- duce emissions and operational costs. Its advanced equipment supports multidisciplinary research, including habitat mapping, sediment analysis, and data collection for global initiatives like the UN Decade of Ocean Science. Managed through ECIMAT’s LIMS, it fosters collaboration, and public engagement, positioning the Marine Research Centre of the University of Vigo as a leader in environmentally sustainable marine science.
