Sumario:The armed conflicts were one of the biggest catastrophes together with the famine and the plague- that struck the Castilian society of the XIVth century. It was an everpresent phenomenon in which some tactical and technical innovations were introduced. Moreover, war proved to have an extraordinary ability to transform during this century not only the structure of the military organization of the kingdom, but also the society, the administration and the tax system, contributing in this way to the formation of the modern state.
