Descripción
Sumario:This chapter aims to complement the analysis offered in a recent monograph, where, starting from a “micro” perspective, the emotions of a volunteer from Cuenca have been highlighted, from his journey and time on the Russian front to the memory elaborated on his return, and warned of the trivialisation surrounding the role of the Blue Division in support of the new European order sponsored by Nazi Germany, which claimed to champion a supposed crusade against communism. In this case, a more specific approach to local history, will be adopted, focusing on the personnel who enlisted in the province of Cuenca to serve Hitler during the Second World War. The aim is to carry out a prosopographical analysis of the volunteers from Cuenca in order to discover their different profiles and the reasons for their enlistment, as well as to test possible biases or clichés in this respect.
