This study examines the spatial variability of bedforms in both depositional and erosional settings in the northern margin of the Alboran Sea, focusing on the submarine delta off the Guadalfeo River and the shelf-incising Carchuna Canyon. The different representation of bedforms was analyzed to compare genetic flows in those contrasting environments. Bathymetric imagery, shallow acoustic data and diverse sedimentary records were used to achieve those goals. Datasets were collected during the ALSSOMAR-S2S and SANIMED oceanographic cruises onboard RV Sarmiento de Gamboa. The sub-surface stratigraphy of the Guadalfeo submarine delta is composed of four acoustic units overlying a high-amplitude seismic horizon interpreted as the last lowstand surface. Undulatory patterns attributed to bedform generation are restricted to the most recent wedge-shaped unit, where stratified undulations are intercalated with several chaotic sheets. The pervasive undulatory pattern of the most recent prodeltaic unit is imprinted in the present-day bathymetry, with two major bedform fields. In the main active channel of the Carchuna Canyon, discontinuous high-amplitude, structureless undulating reflections were observed. Outside this channel, four acoustic units have been characterized in the shallow subsurface of the associated sedimentary lobe. Undulatory seismic facies show a high reflectivity acoustic response and are separated by sheets with semi-transparent acoustic responses. Bedform relief is maintained by the more recent semi-transparent sheet, resulting in conspicuous bedforms on the present-day seafloor of the sedimentary lobe. In the study area, bedform acoustic patterns and morphometric parameters offer useful insights into the importance of turbiditic flows in each sedimentary environment, contributing to the understanding of sediment transport patterns under distinct source-to-sink systems.International Association of SedimentologistsConsejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas [https://ror.org/02gfc7t72]2025202520252025info:eu-repo/semantics/otherhttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_3248Publisher's versioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/bookParthttp://hdl.handle.net/10261/404949reponame:DIGITAL.CSIC.
