| Sumario: | [EN] The aim of this article is to analyse the elaboration of the royal pennon and royal portraits to celebrate the proclamation of Charles IV in the city of San Felipe (Xàtiva) in 1789, located in the territory that formed part of the ancient Kingdom of Valencia. It also reflects on the use and significance of these objects in the ceremony, which essentially contributed to giving the ritual a performative aspect. In the course of the research, the documentation preserved in the municipal archive of Xàtiva has been examined and various artistic works held among the cultural assets of the aforementioned town have been studied, as well as consulting a wide range of key primary sources that help to understand this case. |
