| Resumo: | Open science (OS) has been a revolution in the last few years due to its implications for research and academic communication. OS represents a transformative shift in all academic disciplines, and the field of applied linguistics is no exception, where the chief aim is to make knowledge accessible to everyone. This approach emphasizes transparency, inclusivity, and collaboration throughout the research process. This openness is not just limited to the reading of research papers but it implies a whole concept. OS is not merely a set of policies but embodies a philosophy of sharing knowledge for the benefit of all, free from financial barriers and institutional restrictions. In this chapter, we will first describe general issues and key developments in OS as a whole, examining global and local contexts / regions as well as OS limitations and challenges. Then, we will introduce some particular ideas of OS in applied linguistics and language studies. |
