The government of Athens finally was hold by some persons who acted like tyrants, in a moment when events and historical context (social conflict and economical crisis) seems to remember the situation that produced the historical phenomenon of the Greek Tyranny.Este artículo aborda la compleja situación que vivió Atenas en las primeras décadas del siglo I a. C. Entre las buenas y ventajosas relaciones con Roma, que llevaron a Atenas a obtener grandes beneficios del control de los mercados de Delian, y el duro saqueo de la ciudad por parte de las tropas de Sila en marzo de 86, la ciudad sufrió una crisis económica que derivó en inestabilidad política. .
