| Sumario: | The importance of Workplace Innovation to improve competitiveness and employability strategies in the Basque Country has been a key ingredient of policy discussions in this region. This paper is focused on the analysis of the context and current state of workplace innovation and productivity policy and programmes. For this purpose the focus is on the analysis of the institutional context at Regional level (Basque Country), the territorial context surrounding workers participation-based programme in the Province of Gipuzkoa, and the socio-organisational situation of companies in territorial contexts that comprises the project of Gipuzkoa Workplace Innovation. This article seeks, therefore, to establish a pattern between these three contexts, and to explain how these dynamics have influenced the development of new programmes and policies through the feedback of their different components related to participation and workplace innovation. It also aims looks to understand the diverse and complex workplace environment of an important part of the Basque Country’s work organisations and companies. The evaluation of their practical learning activities, management as intervention, work organisation, and worker participation, and their influence in the employment skills of their workers, is a crucial part of this research. This article takes a close look to these organisations, through a detailed analysis of their main changing processes in their workforce skills, their organisational knowledge and their economic and competitive performance. |
