Descripción
Sumario:[EN] The applications of the microscopical techniques to the study of the steps under which the transformation of coal into coke takes place, and to the determination of the properties of the carbonised product are briefly considered. Details are given of the way in which the quantitative microscopic analysis of coke is carried out, explaining how to prepare the samples, and the way to perform these analysis and to report its results. The compacity of the coke and the average pore size and wall thickness are defined on one practical example. The Daub's formulae for the calculation of the indexes are also given. To finish, reference is made of the relations that can be established between the mechanical strength of the coke and its microscopical composition.
