Sumario:[EN] The Window. Reference in contemporary art. Contributions in sculpture from a personal project. Summary (English) The window as an architectural element has marked the aesthetics of the buildings along the history. The patrimonial heritage, its rich typology, its relationship with the environment and its cultural connotations make it a clear reference to develop a contemporary reinterpretation of art. The hypothesis we propose is intended to demonstrate that the confluence between cultural heritage and contemporary art is possible. We start from a previous research, developed during the doctorate courses (2001-02), in which by means of field work cataloging the windows of the Community of Albarracín (Teruel) was performed. Further analysis work has brought us not only theoretical knowledge but typological has allowed us to strengthen the research in which architecture is linked to the sculptural field. This paper propose us to analyze and review the work of different authors and thinkers linked to architecture, sculpture, literature and cinema where the window is the element that articulates the spaces (poetic, architectural and experiential) and thus become an endless source of metaphors for artistic creation. This thesis presents double theoretical and practical aspects. Here we establish a parallel through the words and concepts are discussed later move to sculpture to investigate in the field of the creative process. Through the methodology of qualitative research was conducted the analytical study of concepts related to space (architectural, poetic and existential) and sculpture. The structuring of the thesis set out in two parts: The First consists of the theoretical content around the space, with reflections of authors on proxemics, poetic existence, taking us to the place where windows are present: the house. The Second part of the investigation includes concepts that lay the foundations for the implementation in the artwork and the work done by the theoretical development of it is presented. By raising and establish relationships and parallels with authors and artists, sensitive world which explores a selection of interdisciplinary references and sources close to the issue at hand is established. It has been worth the architectural heritage from which we start to argue over the uniqueness of art itself and its potential as a source of inspiration for the sculpture.
