Recent research, involving 138 U-Th datings from eight caves, reconstructs the late Holocene sea-level history over the last 4,000 years. Findings include a sea level position at 25 cm below the pre-industrial times ‒occurring between 3.89 and 3.26 ka BP‒, followed by a rapid rise to current levels, remaining stable from 2.84 ka BP until the early 20th century. The paper also discusses glacial isostatic adjustment models, one of which is similar with the obtained POS data, linking sea-level rise to West Antarctica’s ice melt. Today, these crystallizations are partially submerged in the coastal phreatic waters, due to the gradual rise in sea level linked to modern (industrial) global warming; since 1900 the sea-level has risen by about 17.3 cm, with the rate of rise accelerating to 2.05 mm/year in the recent decades.[spa] En estas páginas se exponen las investigaciones desarrolladas sobre los espeleotemas freáticos (POS) de edad holocena, observables en los lagos salobres de cuevas costeras del levante y sur de Mallorca. Se pasa revista a la evolución de los conocimientos sobre estos depósitos que tienen sus incios, a finales de los años setenta del siglo pasado, con las primeras observaciones morfogenéticas realizadas sobre los POS holocenos de las cuevas litorales de la isla. Las investigaciones más recientes se han basado en un total de 138 dataciones ‒efectuadas mediante el método U-Th‒ de muestras recolectadas en 8 cavidades diferentes. Los resultados obtenidos permiten reconstruir la historia del nivel marino durante el final del Holoceno, en concreto los últimos 4.000 años. En este sentido, se ha documentado un nivel marino 25 cm inferior al preindustrial ocurrido entre 3,89 y 3,26 ka BP, seguido de una rápida subida hasta alcanzar el presente nivel del mar que se mantendrá excepcionalmente estable desde 2,84 ka BP hasta comienzos del siglo XX. Se discuten los modelos de ajustes isostáticos glaciales (GIA) que son compatibles con los datos obtenidos, relacionando la mencionada subida del nivel marino con aportaciones procedentes de la fusión de hielo de la Antártida occidental.
