Description
Summary:This paper reviews the idea that there would have been a loss of hierarchical control by the Argentine Navy over the repression in the Navy Mechanics School, one of the largest clandestine detention centers of the military dictatorship in Argentina (1976-1983). The article argues that the autonomization of the ESMA «task force» from the Navy's Intelligence structure was limited to a specific period of its existence.
