Está constituido por las zonas volcánicas del Empordá, la Selva y la Garrotxa, siendo en esta última donde, por su modernidad, se conserva mejor la morfología volcánica. En este articulo se exponen las características generales de las rocas volcánicas, cual fue la actividad eruptiva que las generó y la morfología de los edificios volcánicos resultantes.
