DESIGN AND METHODS: The first phase was conducted to develop the questionnaire through a panel of experts and evaluate for content validity. Psychometric evaluation was then conducted with a consecutive sample of 341 patients. FINDINGS: The scale demonstrated good internal consistency and stability over time. The discriminant and convergent validity was satisfactory. The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the theoretical model fits the self-care requisites proposed by Orem's nursing theory from which it originated. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: This scale is a valid and reliable instrument for use in clinical practice, guiding the nurse in developing the most appropriate care plan for each patient.Wiley2013info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://hdl.handle.net/2445/174311Articles publicats en revistes (Infermeria de Salut Pública, Salut mental i Maternoinfantil)reponame:Dipòsit Digital de la UBinstname:Universidad de BarcelonaInglésReproducció del document publicat a: https://doi.org/10.1111/ppc.12026Perspectives in Psychiatric Care, 2013, vol. 50, num. 2, p. 93-101https://doi.org/10.1111/ppc.12026(c) CC BY-NC-ND, Roldán Merino, et.al., 2013http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/3.0/es/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessoai:diposit.ub.edu:2445/1743112026-05-27T06:46:51Z
