Descripción
Sumario:The salt evaporation ponds in Saelices are a site of Cultural and Ecological Interest Site inside the Alto Tajo Natural Park. Time ago the salty groundwater was pumped out from two wells. It has been proved that this salinity is due to the discharge of groundwater from Keuper facies. This salty water flows up into the alluvial sediments of the Arroyo de la Vega. It is a Na- Cl type water with a high electric conductivity (higher than 25 mS/cm). This salty water gets mixed with fresh water (coming from rain and from adjacent quaternary sediments) inside the alluvial sediments and flows into the Arroyo de la Vega channel
