Gaya is not only inspired by Van Gogh as a pictorial model, but also establishes an aesthetic and emotional dialogue with him that runs through his career, starting with his written reflections, as Van Gogh did with his letters to his brother Theo. This analysis allows us to delve deeper into the connection between painting and words, as well as into the constant search for the essential in art. The proposal underscores how Van Gogh s legacy was key to Gaya s evolution, who incorporated him as a reference in his particular pantheon of great masters.[ES] Ramón Gaya es un pintor que escribe sometido a un análisis por los diversos homenajes que realizó al pintor Vincent Van Gogh con el que se establece una conexión y confrontación de realidades que permiten conocer mejor el posicionamiento de Gaya ante el maestro neerlandés, el cual desde sus misivas a su hermano Theo también empleó la escritura. Descubrimos a un sensible Gaya en ambos terrenos en una necesidad constante de pintar desde muy temprana edad y prolongada hasta el final de su dilatada vida donde no pierde el interés en su propia búsqueda sobre el secreto de la pintura en una narrativa digna de un intelectual.
