Descripción
Sumario:This study focuses on the professional learning community in three schools in Iceland. The aims are to see if there is a relationship between the professional learning community and the schools' level of effectiveness; and investigate if implementation of a professional learning community will improve the school's level of effectiveness. The study is a mixed model research, conducted in two phases; a correlation study into the professional community in two outlier schools of different levels of effectiveness and an experimental study in the third school. The results indicated a significant relationship between schools' levels of effectiveness and the professional learning community. However, more information is still needed in order to answer the fundamental question of how to improve the professional learning community within a school.
