| Sumario: | The date 7 April 2006 marks the one-hundredth anniversary of Rafael Masó Valentí’s graduation as an architect. To celebrate the event, in January 2005 the Masó Year Committee was set up, with representatives from different levels of regional and local government, universities and architect associations, in the form of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Diputació de Girona, the Ajuntament de Girona, the Universitat de Girona, the Col·legi d’Aparelladors i Arquitectes Tècnics de Girona, Narcís-Jordi Aragó (representing the architect’s family), Xavier Albertí, and Narcís Comadira and Joan Tarrús (both specialists and experts in the figure of Masó), coordinated by the Girona Branch of the Catalan architects’ association, the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya. Since then, the committee has been working to involve all strata of society in drawing up a programme of activities to make known the life and work of the Girona architect, and raise awareness on the protection and restoration of his heritage |
