Descripción
Sumario:One of the main aspects of biogeography is its applied nature. thus, it is configured as a first-order tool for the conservation, planning and management of the landscape. Aware of this, the lurralde-on research group has been inventorying, characterizing and evaluating different patches of petrano oak (Quercus petraea) in the north of the Iberian Peninsula. Its relict, finicky and rare character means that it must be considered for its protection and correct management. We have worked on examples from the autonomous communities of Aragón, Navarra, Basque country and Castilla León. The methodology used - lanbioeva (acronym of "landscape biogeographical evaluation") - is a tool for the analysis, diagnosis and management of biotic units and landscapes. Through a systematic inventory of 10 plots in 5 different patches, we are able to establish a good characterization of these forests, as well as their biogeographical evaluation. All these patches have important records in terms of conservation interest due to their broad territorial, mesological and cultural values. On the other hand, the conservation priority also shows important scores due to their scarcity and the existence of anthropic threats that should be reversed or controlled.
