[EN] In the prologue it is explained why this book of essay was written in collaboration with the African American scholar Frances Smith Foster: the special contribution of Jamaican writer Velma Pollard (who wrote the introduction); the illustrations especially done by the Cuban artist Tomás González for this book; and the division of this study in three sections (Family and Society; Family in the Visual and Performing Arts; and Family and Literature).
