Descripción
Sumario:Spain is a major aquacultural producer in Europe, and its sea cage production has been progressively increasing. The present study proposes a decalogue for action in the Spanish aquaculture industry, in order to avoid interfering with other marine activities. After reviewing the main impacts of aquaculture, we propose a protocol to identify the areas appropriate for aquaculture, as well as a protocol for the environmental management of these firms. Aquaculture will be sustainable if it is well planned, and production is properly managed.
