Sumario:The mise en abyme is, as we know, a prolific device used not just in literary field. We find beautiful exemplars on it use in different genres and artistic venues as well as in various periods. From classic studies of renowned theorists, such as Lucien Dällenbach, Gérard Genette or Mieke Bal, and from the analysis of a corpus coverings different artistic manifestations and genres (from painting to cinema, theater, novel, story and poetry), this paper offers a typology that allows to sort each case proposed, in spite of the wide range of shades that unfolds
