Sumario:In this research, several types of asphalt mixtures with the addition of crumb rubber (CR) from end-of-life tires (ELT) have been studied. The volumetric characteristics, texture surface and sound absorption (impedance tunnel) of the asphalt mixtures were analyzed in the laboratory. Based on the results obtained, a model for predicting sound absorption as a function of the volumetric characteristic and surface texture of the mixtures was proposed. It has been observed that the parameter that most strongly governs the sound absorption of the bituminous mixture is its void content. CR can moderately improve the sound absorption, especially in mixes with a high void content.
