Descripción
Sumario:Based on the ethos studies conducted in the field of discourse analysis, we provide in this article a study of the press conference given by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, on the 10th December 2018, in response to the televised address that Emmanuel Macron, the President of the French Republic, gave to the Nation on that same date, because of the “Yellow Vests” crisis. In that response, the leader of La France insoumise offers his parliamentary group’s opinion on the words pronounced by Macron, but he also intends to neutralize the positive image that the President has tried to create of himself through his speech. In this article we study the discursive work carried out by Mélenchon, from Macron’s previous ethos, with the goal of creating a negative effect on his rival’s image as a political leader.
