Resumo:The research analyses the creation process of the new local public energy supplier in Barcelona, Barcelona Energia, as an example of citizen act and political subjective process. This process is performed through the political claim for the right to energy from a broad perspective, including transversal dimensions like participation and democratization of energy management. The research has a qualitative methodological approach. We investigate the impact and influence of sectorial social movements in Barcelona and their role in the creation process of the local public supplier. The results show the impact of these processes and their main challenges and limitations
