Descripción
Sumario:This article studies the lack of depth in the treatment of the agrarian question in the recent biography written by Payne and Palacios about Franco´s figure. Earlier works written by the American historian exhibit he knows the topic but omit many books and papers written by specialists who have renewed the historiography on this subject. Three most important moments in relation to the agrarian question are the spring of 1936, the dismantling of the agrarian reform started up by the Republic during the Civil War associated with the repression and the relative importance given to agriculture during the consolidation of Franco´s regime. Payne's biography and Palacios nothing says about the importance of the group of major landowners in the origins and consolidation of this regime.
