Sumario:This thesis presents the development of a web-based tool for DICOM image anonymization using WebAssembly. The tool allows healthcare professionals to anonymize medical images directly in the browser, eliminating the need for software installations and ensuring data privacy. The project investigates the feasibility of integrating existing DICOM libraries, originally designed for desktop applications, into a web platform. A Rust-based module compiled to WebAssembly and a React application were developed to achieve this. The tool was tested for both single file and batch processing modes, demonstrating efficient and reliable anonymization of DICOM images. The approach enhances accessibility and usability, especially for users with limited technical expertise or resources. Future improvements include adding image preview capabilities, expanding the DICOM dictionary, packaging components for reuse, and ensuring compliance with DICOM standards. This work contributes to reducing inequalities in healthcare data management by providing an accessible and sustainable solution.
