| Sumario: | [EN] This paper compares two non-parametric programming techniques for the measurement of total factor productivity using panel data: Malmquist indices and an intertemporal-DEA model that allows the calculation of technology and efficiency levels bounds, assuming non-regressive technical change. Both methodologies are applied to the analysis of agricultural productivity in the European Union countries, and several important divergences between models are found. The results suggest lower productivity increases in agriculture than those found in recent literature, with different country ranking concerning productivity growth. |
