This article analyses the procedure of manipulation observed in distinct spheres, such as the academic, publishing or theatrical ?elds, and intends to give an account of how this manipulation has affected our consideration of Calderón’s theatre until today.Calderón de la Barca es, quizás, el escritor más ideologizado de la literatura española. Concretamente, durante el periodo franquista la ?gura y la obra de Calderón llegaron a convertirse en emblema del régimen y de los valores nacionalistas y católicos que este defendía, tergiversándose en muchos casos el sentido último de la obra calderoniana.
