| Sumario: | [EN] The effect of the proteins extracted with 1 M LiC1 from the Cicer arietinum etiolated epicotyl cell walls on the degradation of polysaccharides extracted with alkali was studied. The hemicellulosic polysaccharides were fractionated into three fractions extracted with 4 % KOH, 4 % KOH containing 8 M urea, and 24 % KOH. The protein extract showed exo-glycanase activity against all three hemicellulosic fractions whilst endo-glycanase activity was shown mainly against the hemicellulosic polysaccharides extracted with 4 % KOH. |
