The linguistic analysis carried out by PdBSt identifies an archaic Celtic epithet *Dubitera meaning ‘The dark(er) one’ and used in opposition to another deity. Derived in accordance to Caland’s law, it may have characterized the night goddess otherwise known as Ataecina.
