Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this article is to compare the intonation of information-seeking yes/no and wh- questions of some linguistic varieties of Galicia and Calabria, in order to contribute to the study of Romance prosody and the establishment of an intonative typology of the Romance languages. Thus, taking as basis the existing literature, the current study describes the intonation patterns of yes/no and wh- questions in said varieties and compares them with the other neighbouring varieties in both the Ibero-Romance and Italian-Romance areas. This comparison will enable establishing the main intonation patterns of yes/ no and wh- questions, as well as detecting some issues of interest for Romance dialectology, such as nuclear accents in non-final position and the relationship between intonation and sentence information structure.
