| Sumario: | This paper presents a research study conducted for over four years in the Region of Murcia, carried out by the Faculty of Education and sponsored by the Spanish State Administration. By means of participant observation, a questionnaire and semistructured interviews, it studied the kind of responses given by professionals (mainly social workers and educators) to the needs of immigrants, identifying the various resources and services our Administration offers immigrants and bearing in mind the characteristics, types, levels and methods in the different actions carried out by these professionals. It has been shown that responses remain largely welfare-related, neglecting the possibilities of educational work in the actions of both social workers and social educators. |
