Sumario:The article analyzes the preconditions for the formation of strategic alliances in the biotechnology sector, focusing on the moment from the decision to form an alliance to the signing of the contract. Using qualitative comparative analysis of 69 companies in the Spanish biotechnology sector, various scenarios are identified that can lead to the signing or cancellation of strategic alliance contracts. The study highlights the relevance of economic resources, previous experience in alliances and equitable contractual terms as key factors that influence the successful formation of these alliances, providing both theoretical and practical insights on the strategic management of alliances in biotechnology.
