Sumario:The utilization of remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS), commonly known as drones, has significantly expanded in recent years, encompassing a wide array of applications. These applications include the inspection of historical heritage elements, unique constructions, and ancient or delicate structures. This article originates from a series of routine inspections and two detailed examinations of significant monuments—the Alcántara Roman Bridge and a section of the Segovia Aqueduct—conducted solely for experimental purposes. The completion of these inspections and the information gathered from them will allow for the evaluation of whether drones can be used as an effective tool to perform tasks that currently require skilled personnel, the transportation and installation of bulky auxiliary equipment, and a considerable investment of time and money, particularly in meticulous work planning. Furthermore, there is a strong emphasis on safety and risk reduction: ensuring the safety of the monuments being inspected and minimizing risks to the health and safety of the workers who currently perform these tasks.
