795 nm laser system for cooling, probing and imaging of atomic Rydberg ensembles

This thesis reports on the implementation, characterisation and calibration of a 795 nm Pound-Drever Hall (PDH) laser lock aimed at cooling, probing and imaging a cloud of Rb-87, and ultimately at addressing two-photon Rydberg transitions. This work also describes the alignment of a crossed and back...

Description
Summary:This thesis reports on the implementation, characterisation and calibration of a 795 nm Pound-Drever Hall (PDH) laser lock aimed at cooling, probing and imaging a cloud of Rb-87, and ultimately at addressing two-photon Rydberg transitions. This work also describes the alignment of a crossed and back-reflected dipole trap and characterises the obtained cloud.
