Descripción
Sumario:[EN] Description of a new genus and species (Columbitrechus subsulcatus) and also of another unknown species of Oxytrechus (0. norae), both coming from Puracé, Andes in Colombia. These carabids beetles belong to the subfamily Trechinae. Beyond these descriptions, the new taxa is compared to the seven others genera which make the phyletic series of the neotropical Paratrechus. The autor also discusses the bipartition suggested by JEANNEL (1927-30) in two large categories: bidentata" (with two teeth on the edge of the mandibles) which groups almost all the holarctic Trechinae, in opposition to "tridentata" (with one more premolar tooth) which groups the gondwanian Trechids of the Austral countries. Despite some unfrequent contrarious exceptions, this bipartition of the Trechinae in two categories is justified because it facilitates the systematical study of the Trechids. Effectively, the taxonomy of this subfamily is difficult as regards its great richness of genera and species widely scattered all over the world.
