Descripción
Sumario:Marko Ivan Rupnik’s classification distinguishes spiritual art, religious art, sacred art and liturgical art. It allows us to remember definitions made by previous authors and, at the same time, to determine, more precisely, the sense and meaning of liturgical art, which is an essential part of liturgy, as it manifests the Mystery even outside of active liturgical celebration. Its main elements are: its ecclesiastical character, the importance of tradition and the knowledge of the liturgy, the harmony between creative freedom and the inspiration from the Holy Spirit, essentiality, the symbolic conception of light and the central role of the materials utilized in the work. Consequently, the current research of liturgical art must be stimulated, but without forgetting that this art has its own quid.
